Tankless Water Heater Reviews – Does it Really Reduce Energy Pollution?

By Jennifer Lynn Hanson

Contrary to popular knowledge, choosing a non-storage water heating device may not be all that earth-friendly after all, if everyone is going to be using it. The option to just switch it off and on does not necessarily reduce energy pollution. There have been several tankless water heater reviews that supports this because if popularized, it will surge the electric grid up at certain peak hours.

Apparently, this is how the electrical grid works: to handle a huge demand of energy, electrical grids has to stay at the same electrical amount during the peak hours. They never turn it off, regardless if we switch our appliance on and off when needed. Remember that tank less heating devices need a lot of electrical power to work. This will even consume more than half of your electricity demand. So if everyone in a country uses this appliance all at the same time, electric grids would have to maintain this peak demand the entire time, therefore the energy is wasted during off-peak hours.

In fact, Japan had implemented to roll back to storage tanks due to this spike management issue. Individually we may cut electrical cost but collectively it creates a very disturbing result as there is no solution for the spike management issue yet. The alternatives are to either switch to Solar-powered heating devices or storage tanks like what is being implemented in Japan. Storage types only needs to be used wisely like for example, you may heat the water during off peak hours and have the water gradually drop during the peak hours. Also, make the tank extremely insulated to keep the energy in.

Small things like our water heating devices at home can have a destructive effect on our planet. I believe it is important that we are aware effect of the collective actions that we do. We only have one planet after all.
